Completed project: whole-home light fixture refresh in Aurora

A family in Aurora Highlands had lived with their builder's 'boob light' fixtures for a decade. They picked out nine new ones — pendants for the kitchen island, flush mounts for bedrooms, a statement chandelier for the two-storey foyer — and booked us for a single-day swap.
The one-day fixture refresh
- Power confirmed off and tested at every box before touching wires
- Nine fixtures removed and nine installed, working room by room
- Foyer chandelier hung from staging at sixteen feet, box verified for the weight
- Every fixture levelled, lamped, and tested before moving on
- Old fixtures boxed for donation
The detail people miss: box ratings
A standard ceiling box is not rated for a heavy chandelier. Before hanging the foyer piece we confirmed the box and support could carry the load — and we carry fan-rated braces for when they can't. It's the difference between a fixture that hangs for twenty years and a very bad morning.
The result
One day, one crew, nine fixtures. Lighting is the fastest way to make a 2010s build feel current — and doing them all at once costs meaningfully less per fixture than nine separate visits.
